For either $3.75 (large) or $2.75 (small), we could choose blueberry, taro, passion fruit, and green apple. We also—and this is so friggin’ cool—got to choose the “bubbles”—jelly, cake, pudding, sour cream.

We love artificial flavoring, but we make exception for the doughnuts at Doughnut Plant. All doughnuts are made with—yechh—natural ingredients, filled daily with fresh fruit jelly. Even glazes are made from fresh fruits and nuts. We are seriously thinking of getting healthy.

WAY #2: PEANUT BUTTER & CO.

Even if you don’t like Peanut Butter--and we thought we didn’t — Peanut Butter & Co. might change you, if for no other reason than the Fluffernutter sandwich (peanut butter and melted marshmallow). Sounds gross, tastes shockingly good. Is there a synonym in the peanut butter universe for mouthwatering? Yest…mouth-manslaughtering

WAY #3: CRUMBS

If Tiger Woods liked cupcakes—he’d be Crumbs. Everyday, a new cupcake! Fifty different cupcakes so far! Some 4 inches high! Each with its own unique flavor!

WE FOUND THE SECRET TEXT MESSAGES:

Tiger: Hey Cupcake I can’t come out this week. Something came up family wise

Cupcake: That’s okay I hope everything is fine … would have liked to see you

Tiger: We will make it happen

To find out which 12-step group to attend, visit Jacques Torres chocolate factory on Water Street, in Brooklyn’s DUMBO. Jacques Torres, once the top pastry chef in New York — he starred at Le Cirque — opened his chocolate shop in 2000, one of the first retailers in the neighborhood. For $1.50 per piece, you can eat the best tasting or you can eat the best tasting chocolate in the world.

Not ready to make the trip to DUMBO? Consider this: every study has shown that if you want to enslave a potential lover, make him yours for ever and ever; mesmerize, hypnotize, subjugate him till rivers run dry and mountains slip to the sea, do NOT give him flowers or jewelry; give him chocolate.

The Horn & Hordart commercials used to claim “you can’t eat atmosphere,” probably why fancy million-dollar interiors never impressed us, also probably why we did Krystal’s Cafe, the best Filipino restaurant in Manhattan. It wasn’t just the tokwat baboy and the Kare kare that filled our gut and took our breath, it was also place. Simple tables, nice waiters, cheap food. We spent $40 for two, and no way could we finish. Went home with four doggy bags.

We weren’t done. We crossed First Avenue for coffee at below-street-level De Robertis’s Caffe. We love that below-street-level Italian stuff. So checkered table cloth. We walked past glass canoli cases that, had we not overeaten, would have stopped us, till we reached the back room. To our dismay, the booths were gone, replaced by tables. We love booths because they make everything taste better. When we die, we know heaven will be a diner with booths. Manhattan is losing booths.
