Another celeb who refuses to sell out
STATEN ISLAND’S CHRISTINA AGUILERA CLAIMS SHE IS “VERY UPSET” ABOUT APPEARING ONSTAGE IN REAL FOX FUR, though it was wardrobe director, Roberto Cavalli, who gave her the animal shawl for her “Back to Basics” tour. The star has been an animal-rightser since watching a video, sent by PETA Vice President Dan Matthews, about how foxes are electrocuted to keep their skin intact.
Despite Aguilera’s claims that she “only ever wears fake fur” to protect animals, she likes to look like them. Her website, a guide to clothes she likes, includes two feathered Roberto Cavalli dresses, one in pink and one in purple, which, depending on your point of view, maker her look like “a hot pink flamingo,” or “Big Bird on acid.”
Aguilera discovered Cavalli’s switch just in time for shows in Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, as well as her first “Back to Basics” appearance in Houston, Texas on February 20.
