Suckers!

circuit-city-rush.jpg ASK RECHARGER THE MOST BORING NEWS ITEM OF THE YEAR, and he’d waver between any story about Derek Jeter and Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, so named because stores, flush with cash, go in the black. But Black Friday stupidity this year was downright fun. By midnight, 500 morons, er, bargain hunters were lined up outside a Circuit City store in Rego Park, Queens, hoping to buy one of the $200 Toshiba laptops. At the head of the line was a group of Asians with a barbeque. Others brought chairs, benches, tents and MP3 players. Pouring rain failed to drive them away.

At 2:00 A.M, trouble broke out. Latecomers cut the line and the crowd, thinking the store was open, rushed the entrance. No dice. For the next three hours, the densely-packed mob whined and waited.

When the store finally did open, the crowd, learning only 30 Toshiba laptops were in stock, grew violent. Cops hurried to the scene.

One question: Doesn’t a $200 computer like totally suck?
