On a recent night, Recharger made his way to Winnie’s, Chinatown’s leading Karaoke club, downed two Jack Daniels for courage, and, when his song — the Righteous Brothers “You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling” — flashed on the screen, took the stage to deafening applause and belted out the pop classic with such electrice intensity, such explosive climax, such stunning truth, that he and many other young drunks were moved to burning tears. Everyone in the whole wide bar--except Winnie’s genormos female bartender--sang along.
