Mom and Daughter Found Murdered in Harlem
Some questions even Recharger, whose IQ is at least 74, cannot answer. For example, why does the apparent slaying of a 9-year-old girl and her mother appear on page 24 of today’s NY Post? According to the story, the decomposing bodies of Mariah Navarro, who attended fourth grade at a local school, and her mom, Maria Rivera were found bludgeoned and wrapped in blankets in their ninth-floor, West Harlem apartment. Googling the name “Mariah Navarro” brings up nothing on the murder.
Why is this not front page news? A couple of theories: Madonna wanting a second Malawi baby is more important; girl and mom are the wrong color; murder occurred in a Harlem housing project; murder apparently involved no sex or torture; a possible suspect is dead mom’s boyfriend–nothing particularly fascinating there; the wrong-way DWI driver who decapitated a 7-year-old flower girl was convicted of murder yesterday; so-called terror lawyer Lynne Stewart got off with “wrist slap” 28 month sentence; Mets are in a do-or-die playoff game tonight. Ergo: murder of innocent Hispanic girl barely worth a paragrapha.

The reality of how people choose to give importance to things is very sad. I met and spend time with Mariah, she was lovely, happy, shy and very very innocent. Her mom was a very happy and energetic person, and loved Mariah very much. She and her mom deserve way more importance than given, but God is with them, and that is what is more important.
I cannot imagine how someone could have harm her.

I have mourned for 365 days and I am sad but happy that I found this blog. Every week or so I search in google the names of Mariah Navarro and Maria Rivera. Unfortunately also the name Eugene Lafaye. Everytime I searched I have not seen this posting. Einstein once said that Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous. I am the son to Maria and brother to Mariah. Two beautiful angels looking down on me and my family. I am not sure who the person was that posted the previous blog but I would like to thank you for sharing kind and very very TRUE words. I struggle to stay positive cause thats who i was and that who my mom raised us to be. This next year I am going to take that lesson and put it to work more so. Its hard. Mariah and my mom were my world. My mom brought me in and showed me the way. Mariah was soo beautiful and precious she made me smile everyday. I smile now for the memories to live on and their spirits forever loved.
