Do we have to tip?

28moth_harp.jpgToday’s Times claims that Alix Weisz, who plays her harp in emergency and post-surgery room settings, calms patients’ heartbeats. Some patients, says the Times, wake up thinking they’re in heaven. Don’t know about you, but Recharger things this is a bad idea. Musicians who come, hat in hand, to his table are annoying enough. But at least they move on. This just sucks.

But surely one must be a bit dense if they don’t see the beauty of the subway saw lady! Her music is actually one of the more eloquent sets that one finds in the MTA. It’s especially moving when she opens her mouth as she plays her saw, as if she were singing the notes that resonate throughout the station. I always consider it a joyous gift whenever the saw lady is at Union Square. Oh, and do forgive me for talking while you were asking people their name/high school/major plans.
