Do we have to tip?

28moth_harp.jpg

Today’s Times claims that Alix Weisz, who plays her harp in emergency and post-surgery room settings, calms patients’ heartbeats. Some patients, says the Times, wake up thinking they’re in heaven. Don’t know about you, but Recharger things this is a bad idea. Musicians who come, hat in hand, to his table are annoying enough. But at least they move on. This just sucks.

Hip-hop Laff-of-the-day

The woman who had three kids with assault and rap artist Busta Rhymes’ murdered bodyguard, Israel Ramirez, supports the rapper’s reluctance to talk to cops. “There’s half of me that wants him to speak, and half of me that understands,” Amelin Fernandez told The Daily News. Worker Available.jpg

About half of the immigrants who’ve settled here in the past five years–about 3.7 million people (a very conservative estimate)–are illegal.
They leave, the country dies.

Another Reason Why I Must Live in Clinton Hill

Broken Angel 1.jpg

Broken Angel on the corner of Quincy and Downing in Clinton Hill, a few blocks from Pratt is not–as Gothamist laughingly referred to it, a “Brooklyn tenement version of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona (I seriously doubt the writer remembers his visit to the Sagrada Familia). It is pretty damn cool. Arthur Wood bought the building in 1971 (for $2000–ouch!), and has been working on it ever since. Two things I love about the building: viewed from a few blocks [...]
